Gathan Borden is the Marketing Manager for the Louisville
Convention & Visitors
Bureau. He is responsible for the overall marketing and advertising
strategies of the Bureau across six markets (convention, leisure, group
travel, multicultural, community awareness and sports). He also manages
the national, regional and local media placement for all print, online
and television advertising.
Gathan received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a double
major in Business Management and Business Marketing from the University
of Kentucky in 2001. He is currently pursuing an MBA at Webster University.
He is a member of the Advertising
Federation of Louisville, Destination Marketing Association and Hospitality
Sales and Marketing International. He is a member of the Greater Louisville
Community Branding Project, sings in the St. Stephen Church Temple
Choir and is a volunteer with Jefferson County Public Schools.
Gathan was featured in ‘Who’s Who in Black Louisville’, honoring the
city’s professional,
community and civic leaders. In 2008, he was awarded the “Hot Ten
Award” by the Advertising Federation of Louisville, given annually
to the top ten local advertising professionals under the age of 30.
He is married to his wife, Shannon and is the father of a 1 year old
daughter, Sydney.
His favorite quote is “Success occurs when preparation meets opportunity.”

he will speak to us about how tourist marketing affects other industries.
